Session 36

Day 181 (3rd cycle of summer, 30th day)
The Sons decided to rest and recuperate at the church. 

While sleeping, Nevron and Urnyx were transported(?) back in time to the same day long ago, when the underground city below Ironville was still alive and populated. There they participated in a giant ritual that captured Garos the Eternal Champion, First Lieutenant of the Arch-angel Saint Michael (Leader of the Armies of Heaven) so that the city, lead by high priest Kyrosh of the Twins could strike a deal with none other than Ter-Zoth, the demon that the Sons had liberated some months earlier, to have the demons leave the city alone. 

Even though the two Sons sabotaged the ritual, so that the crystal would no longer be unbreakable, it still formed and trapped the angel. Ter-Zoth arrived, but didn't uphold his end of the bargain and instead flooded the underground city with bone demons. The Sons desperately tried to hold back the tide of fiends, but to no avail and were soon ripped to pieces, while Ter-Zoth teleported away with the coffin, after failing to bring it back to Hell through the gate he had opened. 

Weird thing was, that while Nevron and Urnyx were still themselves, both were followers of the Twins and everybody called them by their real name and seemed to know them. Apparently, they had even gotten the crystal that was grown around Garos for the high priest by going up to the surface and into Oakwood, which was, according to the people of the underground city, no mean feat.

Session 35

Day 181 (3rd cycle of summer, 30th day)
After a couple of days resting after their trip to the Underworld, the Sons head back down below Ironville in order to find Talladar. After acquiring the needed permits, they hire some "dwarves" to break down the wall.

Behind they find some ancient sewers and access to an ancient crypt, where they find a broken sarcophagus and a hole in the wall leading to a natural chimney that goes down. The Sarcophagus is trapped by magic, which makes no sense, how could someone had broken into it and not activated the magic? Also, there were no prints whatsoever. 

The Sons climb down and find an abandoned city? but otherwise in pristine condition. Nevron sends out his magic eye, and spots some undead, and also finds several landmarks, amongst others a church of the Twins. 

The Sons start to move through the city, encountering several undead, both ghosts, a banshee, some wights and a ton of ghouls.

They fight their way through the church and seek refuge there, hoping that the consecrated ground will keep out most if not all of the undead.

Session 34

Day 179 (3rd cycle of summer, 28th day)
For 2 days, the Sons fought their way through the Underworld. At every turn there were undeads and more undeads, and every time they encountered some, they attracted a ton more. The situation was looking gloom, as they were looking forward to at least another 8 days of constant assaults. It was also as if the undead could feel the living on this plane.

Late in the evening of the second day, a portal opened near where the Sons were about to make camp. Sophie had coerced Morninglord Henry to find them, and after spending a night and day in prayer and meditation, an angel had arrived to show him where the Sons were.

Session 33

Day 176 (3rd cycle of summer, 25th day)
The next day, the Sons work on a trap to get a shadar-kai shiff commandeered so they can get up to the island. Lots of ideas with nets and ballistas, but in the end, the Sons hide on a roof-top and try to jump on a shiff when it swings by, dropping off shadar-kais into Ironville. However, as they attempt to do it, the navigator spots them and tries to get away. Nevron however manages to charm him, and they get into the shiff and are flown up to the floating city. 

Nevron casts an illusion, so that they look as shadar-kai. Problem is the language. Nevron and Charon both speak elvish, as do the shadar-kai, but their accent is very different and while communication would be possible without issues, no one who had a conversation with them would take them for a real shadar-kai.

Once up there, the Sons pass through the city, which is full of black slender spires. They finally arrive at the domed building from which the purple energies emanate. 

Up there, they try to trick their way past the guards, who won't let anyone in, but when the bluff fails, they engage in a fight. 

Slowly the battle moves inside the building, where there are more guards and two shadowmancers also. It is a long and hard battle, which leaves the Sons depleted and exhausted.

While resting for a little energy, they pose as guards outside, so noone notices. 

After an hour's rest, Nevron fails to dismantle the ritual, so they have to destroy the black-runed stones, which causes an explosion and the island to be dragged back into the Underworld.

They quickly leave the building and head down the hill. They run into some guards, but manage to bluff them into thinking that there are people in need of help. While the guards run up, the Sons disappear into the city and find a vacant home and rest.

Day 177 (3rd cycle of summer, 26th day)
Nevron tries to charm a shadar-kai into finding out about a portal. However the best info he can obtain is that one of the rival "cities" are known to have control over a semi-permanent portal.

Session 32

Day 132 (2nd cycle of summer, 17th day)
The Sons move into Nevron's new tower, and immediately start getting it covered in lead, to prevent scrying and such.


While the others chill and train, Nevron starts to do some research.

Day 145 (2nd cycle of summer, 30th day)
Nevron finishes his research about the scrying necklace. He figures out a ritual to cast, when someone else is using it to look in on them, then he should be able to watch right back. In order to make the ritual, he needs some gem dust, pixie wings and the bone of a dead diviner (all in all 50 gp worth)

Day 156 (3rd cycle of summer, 5th day)
The Sons return from Ashfield, where they picked up the crystal coffin with the celestial and the golems.

Day 167 (3rd cycle of summer, 16th day)
Nevron finished his research on the demon bowl. It's fairly simple. Spill a good amount of fresh human blood into the bowl, say true name of demon you want to contact and presto, instant communication.

Day 174 (3rd cycle of summer, 23rd day)
Nevron finishes his research on Tarradar, discovering that is was sacked during the first demon war, and that Ironville was built on top of it afterwards, re-using some parts of the sewer system and that Sophie's palace is built on top of the old palace.

Day 175 (3rd cycle of summer, 24th day)
As the Sons prepare to turn in for the inn, screams alert them that something is up outside. As they exit, they see a huge rock with a city of black slender spires hovering half a mile about Ironville. From the floating island, hundreds of small black flying boats descend on Ironville.

It is the shadar-kai, living inhabitants of the Underworld.

The Sons fight their way through the streets and up to the palace, which is under assault. They arrive just in time to fight off 5 shadar-kai who are trying to kill Sophie, saving the day once again.

Hagron, who had been knocked unconscious, says that it seems there is a field of energy around the island, somehow keeping it in Gemnos, instead of in the Underworld.

Sophie suggests that the Sons get up there and destroy the device allowing the island to be there. And if they kill the leader of the shadar-kai, she wouldn't mind either.


Session 31

Day 131 (2nd cycle of summer, 16th day)Continuing into the underground complex, the Sons of the Phoenix encounter multiple duergars, who appear to mine and such for the fire giant.

After many battles and some stealthiness, the Sons find themselves facing the Fire Giant and his two horse-sized hell hounds. After a long and hard battle, the giant and the dogs are dead, but the Sons are all bout dead themselves, so when 30 duergar arrive, they have to strike a deal in order to leave alive.

Day 132 (2nd cycle of summer, 17th day)
After getting some rest, they teleport back to Ironville, with the fire key and some gems in hand.
